The nine-year trophy drought is finally over for Arsenal fans.
Despite a horrific start to the FA Cup final that saw Hull City score
two goals in the first 10 minutes, Arsenal fought back to win silverware
for the first time since 2005.
Hull jumped to a 2-0 lead thanks to unlikely goals from defenders —
James Chester deflected an errant shot past Lukasz Fabianski in the
fourth minute, and Curtis Davies headed home off a corner four minutes
later.
Santi Cazorla stopped the bleeding in the 17th minute with one of the finest free kicks in FA Cup history.
Suddenly the final was up for grabs, and Arsenal took control of the
game. Referee Lee Probert denied Arsenal a few penalty decisions, but
Laurent Koscielny finally equalized the game in the 71st. A deflected
header fell kindly to Koscielny in the middle of the penalty area, and
the defender was able to spin and poke the ball under the goalkeeper.
Hull held off the Gunners to push the game to extra time, but Arsenal
won the game with a brilliant combination from Olivier Giroud and Aaron
Ramsey. In the 109th minute, Giroud delivered a backheel to Ramsey
inside the Hull penalty area, and Ramsey made no mistakes with the
finish.

After the match, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was overjoyed. Kieran Gibbs showered him the champagne.
